The Balvenie Tun 1509 Batch No.7

Tun 1509 Batch No.7 is a masterful single malt. It showcases the blending skill of Malt Master David Stewart. This limited edition marries 21 rare casks—sherry butts, bourbon barrels, and refill hogsheads. All were handpicked from the distillery’s deep stock.

Each cask was transferred into Tun 1509, a large marrying tun. There, the whisky rested for months to harmonize fully. The result is a rich and layered whisky with true depth. You’ll first notice dried fruits, honey, and warm oak on the nose.Hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and roasted nuts follow, creating an elegant and spiced aroma.

On the palate, the texture is velvety and full-bodied. Sweet toffee, gingerbread, and dark chocolate lead the way, balanced by earthy oak and citrus zest. There’s also a touch of dried fig and clove that adds complexity and richness.

The finish is long and evolving, with soft tannins, warming spice, and sweet malt fading slowly. This release is unchill-filtered and bottled at a higher strength, preserving its depth and structure. Each batch of Tun 1509 is unique, and Batch No.7 is considered one of the most balanced to date.
